Are the teachers fully qualified with university training?

Yes they are and beginning teachers will receive regular support from an Elder Mentor – a teacher with over ten years of experience teaching.

How much is a typical day of fees?

Each teacher sets their fee for the day between $60-$120. For a half day: $30-$60. Check with your teacher to see if they prefer weekly, fortnightly, half term or term payments.

How long is a half day/full day?

A half day is roughly 3 hours. A full day is roughly 5 hours. Speak with your teacher about the details.

Will I receive an MCA Report card on my child?

Yes, at the end of Term 4 if you so wish, you can request a Record Of Achievement which outlines progress, participation and the personality your child is sharing.

My child has NDIS funding. Can I use this for micro classes?

Yes, if the Main Lesson outcomes line up with the NDIS Plan and its associated short, medium or long-term goals.

Can I ask the teacher to help me with writing up my Weekly Schedule and/or a Plan for my registration for my child?

Yes. Teachers are adept at creating schedules and timetables and can help you plan out your homeschool activities and lessons. To create the home school Plan for registration, make an appointment with your teacher.

Can I leave my child with the teacher for their Main Lessons?

Yes. Our Teachers are all approved with a Working With Children Check (differing name of this document for different states in Australia) and have a Duty Of Care to look after your children.

Can I stay with my child for part or all of the Main Lessons or break times?

Discuss the advantages of this with your child’s teacher. All parents of the class would need to be made aware of a parent’s attendance and a Working With Children Check would need to be provided.

Are homeschooled children at a disadvantage socially?

No. Homeschooled children regularly engage in social activities and are typically socially adept as they are typically confident, have mixed regularly with children and adults of all ages, and there have always been very proactive homeschool networks in Australia to tap into.
