OUR TEACHERS

As a teacher of small groups, I have the opportunity to get to know the children well and this feels wholesome. Individual attention is easily provided for every child.
I’ve never been happier teaching. I am so very grateful for every opportunity I have had to work with this community and to have had my own daughters home-school long term.
I’m thrilled to have witnessed so many students regain self-confidence and step confidently into apprenticeships, university, TAFE, and jobs that they love.
Personal Interest Projects (PIPs) are where the students deep dive into their area of interest and choose a topic, research their topic, and then decide on how to present their topic to their peers. The research and creation component takes several months. The presentation to their peers is from 30 to 90 minutes. The child becomes the teacher and expert in their topic. The PIPs have been hugely successful with fantastic results. I have learnt so very much from the children.

Hi, my name is Kristy Chelman.
I am super excited to be teaching with Micro Classes Australia starting Term 1, 2025 for 7-11 year olds. In 2026 I am offering one to one. I am a specialist in additional needs.
I have a Bachelor of Teaching with many years of experience working in early childhood education, also working in early intervention and child therapy.
I am situated on a property in the Orara Valley at Lanitza, with wide open spaces for the children to explore nature and learn some life skills from the land.
As a home-schooling mum myself to my 9-year-old daughter, I have a deep understanding of the needs and wishes of home-schooling parents.
